PSSSB Excise and Taxation Inspector Recruitment 2026 – 197 Vacancies

The Punjab Subordinate Services Selection Board (SSSB) has released the official notification for the recruitment of Excise and Taxation Inspectors in 2026. A total of 197 vacancies have been announced for eligible candidates across different categories.

Advertisement publication date: 06/02/2026
Start date for submitting online applications: 13/02/2026
Last date to submit online applications and pay fee: 06/03/2026


Instructions for candidates who applied under Advertisement No. 14/2024:

  • Since the posts of Excise and Taxation Inspector advertised earlier under Advertisement No. 14/2024 were withdrawn, candidates who applied earlier must apply again from the beginning for this recruitment.

  • Such candidates are exempted from paying the application fee for this advertisement.

  • For these candidates, the age cut-off date will be considered as 01-01-2024.

Educational Qualification

For the post of Excise and Taxation Inspector:

(i) Degree Requirement

Candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university or institution, or its equivalent.

(ii) Computer Qualification (any one of the following)

Candidate must have:

  • A minimum 120-hour computer course with working experience in:

    • Personal Computers

    • Information Technology in Office Productivity Applications

    • Desktop Publishing Applications
      from a Government-recognized or reputed ISO-9001 certified institution

OR

  • Must have passed a Computer Information Technology course equivalent to ‘O’ Level certificate of DOEACC (NIELIT), Government of India


Note

(A) Punjabi Language Requirement

As per Punjab Civil Services Rules, 1994:

No person shall be appointed unless he/she has passed Matriculation with Punjabi as a compulsory or elective subject, or any equivalent Punjabi language exam specified by the Government.


(B) Mandatory Punjabi Qualifying Test (New Rule)

As per notification dated 28-10-2022:

  • Candidate must pass a Punjabi language qualifying test of Matriculation standard conducted by the recruiting agency.

  • This test is mandatory in addition to the main exam.

  • Candidate must secure minimum 50% marks in Punjabi.

  • Failure to pass Punjabi test will disqualify the candidate, even if they score well in other subjects.

(C) Cut-off Date for Eligibility

As per notification dated 21-01-2026:

“The cut-off date to determine the minimum educational and other qualifications, unless otherwise specified in the relevant rules, shall be the last date for submission of application forms.”
