Chronological order of the successors of Maharaja Ranjit Singh:

1. Maharaja Kharak Singh (1839–1840):

   • Eldest son of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, succeeded him after his death.

2. Kanwar Nau Nihal Singh (1840):

   • Son of Maharaja Kharak Singh, briefly ruled after his father's demise but died under mysterious circumstances.

3. Maharaja Sher Singh (1841–1843):

   • Half-brother of Kharak Singh, came to power after Nau Nihal Singh's death.

4. Maharaja Dalip Singh (1843–1849):

   • Youngest son of Maharaja Ranjit Singh and the last ruler of the Sikh Empire, dethroned after the annexation of Punjab by the British in 1849.
