Solution
Let the numbers be x, x + 2 and x + 4.
Then, \((x + x + 2 + x + 4) - {x + x + 2 + x + 4 \over 3} = 44\)
⇒ \((3x + 6) - {3x + 6 \over 3} = 44\)
⇒ 2 × (3x + 6) = 132
⇒ 6x = 120
⇒ x = 20
