The word Punjab originates from the Persian language, where "Punj" means five and "Ab" means water.
Punjab
Sapta Sindhu, meaning "Land of Seven Rivers," was the ancient name for the region now known as Punjab. It referred to the seven rivers: Saraswati, Sindhu (Indus), Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi, Beas, and Sutlej.
Kuka Movement
The Namdhari Movement, also known as the Kuka Movement, was initiated in the mid-19th century by Guru Ram Singh at Bhaini Sahib. Guru Ram Singh led the Namdhari Sikhs in their efforts to revive Sikhism, oppose British rule, and address social issues like caste discrimination and dowry.

The city of Amritsar was founded in 1574 by Guru Ram Das Ji, the fourth Sikh Guru. Guru Ram Das Ji also initiated the construction of a holy tank, later known as Amrit Sarovar, which became the spiritual and cultural center of Sikhism.
