The Sirhind Canal, connected to the Sutlej River, is located near Rupnagar (formerly Ropar) in Punjab, India. The canal was inaugurated in 1882 during British rule.
Sutlej

Raja Gulab Singh
The Treaty of Amritsar (1846) was signed between the East India Company and Raja Gulab Singh, the founder of the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir. Through this treaty, Gulab Singh was recognized as the independent ruler of Jammu and Kashmir in exchange for a payment of 75 lakh rupees to the British.
