In 1872, during the Kuka Movement (also known as the Namdhari Movement), 66 Kukas (Namdhari Sikhs) were executed by the British by tying them to the mouths of cannons and blowing them apart.
1897
The famous Battle of Saragarhi was fought on 12th September 1897. It was a heroic last stand by 21 Sikh soldiers of the 36th Sikh Regiment against thousands of Afghan tribesmen.
Colonisation Bill
The agrarian agitation of Punjab in 1907, also known as the Pagri Sambhal Jatta Movement, was launched in opposition to the Colonisation Bill introduced by the British. This bill imposed restrictions on farmers' rights to own and transfer land in the newly irrigated areas of Punjab. The movement was led by prominent leaders like Lala Lajpat Rai and Sardar Ajit Singh, advocating for the farmers' rights and self-reliance.
Hunter Committee

Banke Dayal
The revolutionary song "Pagri Sambhal Jatta" was written by Banke Dayal, a Punjabi poet. The song became the anthem of the Pagri Sambhal Jatta Movement (1907), inspiring farmers to rise against the British government's oppressive laws, particularly the Colonisation Bill.
