The Komagata Maru ship carried 376 passengers, mostly Sikhs, along with a few Hindus and Muslims, from Punjab. They were seeking entry into Canada in 1914 but were denied due to discriminatory immigration laws.

Michael O’Dwyer
Michael O'Dwyer was the Lieutenant Governor of Punjab at the time of the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre in 1919. Later, in 1940, he was assassinated by Udham Singh in London as an act of revenge for the massacre.
