Sapta Sindhu
The old name of Punjab was Sapta Sindhu, meaning "Land of Seven Rivers," as mentioned in the Rigveda. These seven rivers were the Saraswati (now extinct), Sindhu (Indus), Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi, Beas, and Sutlej.
