Guru Amar Das ji
The 'Manji-system' was established by Guru Amar Das Ji, the third Sikh Guru. This system was a method of organizational and administrative structure for spreading Sikh teachings. He divided the Sikh community into 22 Manjis (dioceses), each led by a devoted Sikh who was responsible for spiritual and administrative leadership in their respective area.
Tarn Taran
In 1590, Guru Arjan Dev Ji, the fifth Sikh Guru, laid the foundation of the city Tarn Taran between the rivers Ravi and Beas. Tarn Taran Sahib is known for its historical significance in Sikhism and the famous Gurdwara Tarn Taran Sahib, which has the largest sarovar (holy pond) in Sikhism.
Gurudwara Act was passed in 1925
The Jaitu Morcha was a significant movement by Sikhs in the 1920s to regain control of Gurdwaras from corrupt Mahants (priests) and oppose British interference in Sikh religious affairs.
